Counselor’s Corner

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Gloria Floyd Elementary!

This year, our school-wide theme is “GFE is Wild About Learning”—and we are ready to explore, discover, and grow together. I am thrilled to once again serve our amazing students, families, and staff. As the school counselor, I support students in a variety of ways—through individual meetings, small group sessions, classroom lessons, and school-wide activities. Every day is an opportunity to help students learn, problem-solve, and thrive.

Here’s what you can expect this year:

  • Small Group Counseling – If your child is invited to participate, you’ll receive a permission slip describing the topic and objectives. You can choose whether or not your child takes part in the group.
  • Classroom Counseling Lessons – These lessons are tailored to both district guidelines and student needs. We will cover important topics such as bullying prevention, Values Matter Miami, building resilience, encouraging positive behavior, and practicing mindfulness strategies. Lessons are interactive and designed to help students apply skills in real-life situations.

We also have a variety of school-wide programs and events that bring our community together and reinforce the values we want to see in our learners. This year, you’ll see our “Wild About Learning” theme woven into celebrations, activities, and even some of our lessons.

For individual counseling, students can be referred by parents, teachers, or other school staff. Students may also request to meet with me by filling out a “See the Counselor” form, available in the main office, online, or from their classroom teacher.

Our Student Services team is here to be a consistent support system for your child—academically, socially, and emotionally. Whether it’s a quick check-in or ongoing guidance, our mission is to help every student succeed and feel confident in their learning journey.

Thank you for partnering with us to make this year a wild success!

Warm regards,
